It has been Outright’s curiosity that has been most impressive. I’ve always felt the team has a real desire to “know” us, not “develop a brand” for us. And that makes a huge difference in the experience of a partnership.

Outright helped reintroduce Ocean Conservancy as a bold, trusted leader protecting the ocean forever and for everyone. The organization was in need of a refreshed identity to reach new ocean advocates and stand out among the sea of environmental nonprofits.

We created a new visual identity informed by the organization's 50+ year legacy, stakeholder interviews, and a national perception survey. This included an expansive color palette inspired by aquatic communities and wildlife, curated photography style rooting their work in real-world impact, and a new, humanist typographic system — culminating in a cohesive brand system that reinforces the organization’s confident positioning as the front line defenders of the ocean.

The rebrand was launched across print, video, fundraising, and digital materials, including a major website redesign that streamlined hundreds of pages into an intuitive user experience without sacrificing accessibility or SEO value. A bespoke UI kit of modular components was developed in a custom WordPress theme to balance flexibility with brand consistency, empowering Ocean Conservancy to continue expanding their work without compromising design quality. The refreshed identity has elevated brand recognition, been embraced by employees, and led the way for future activations to drive collective ocean action.
